Zarren Law Group, LLC (ZLG) offers clients the best of both worlds: the sophisticated experience of a large firm utilizing experienced professionals from top to bottom, coupled with personal high touch service and value.

ZLG’s clients are primarily comprised of middle-market businesses, typically private, commercial entities, venture capital and private equity funds, and high and ultra-high net worth families. We offer a team-focused, value-add, results-oriented approach by providing practical advice in solving our client’s business and legal issues.  In addition to handling matters in the Mid-Atlantic region and throughout the United States, our attorneys have represented businesses and handled transactions globally in countries throughout Europe, as well as in China, Israel, and Canada to name a few. Our attorneys are also and leaders of, and active participants in, industry associations and have authored regional, national and global publications. ZLG’s attorneys have varying business backgrounds which helps them understand both the big picture and specific challenges that affect our clients.

Prior Experience in the Business World

Almost every member of our team has prior experience in the business world as a business owner/entrepreneur, C-level executive (including as general counsel of privately and publicly held companies), and/or part of a senior management team. Certain team members hold graduate degrees in business (e.g. MBA), in addition to their JDs.

Proactively Understanding Our Clients and their Needs

We also take a practical approach to practicing law by not only focusing on legal issues, but more importantly from a business prospective, provide practical business advice. At ZLG, we invest the time to understand our clients and their particular needs, goals and objectives for both their businesses as well as their families without necessarily billing our clients every minute to do so.

For areas outside of our core practice, we serve to the legal market what a great quarterback is to a winning football team. And everyone wants a great quarterback. At ZLG, we utilize “just the right player, and play, at just the right time” utilizing our strategic relationships with other law firms outside of our main practice areas.  This approach enables us to partner with other lawyers at other firms (truly hiring who is ‘best for the job’) eliminating inherent conflicts.

 

We exemplify how practical, real market knowledge can be leveraged when utilizing the “right player and play, at the right time.”  We provide clients with consistent access to experienced “deal lawyers” with experience in business, rather than utilizing a leverage structure with less experienced attorneys handling the bulk of the heavy lifting.  Our approach is unique, as we focus on maximizing results for our clients irrespective of a client’s size, industry or level of sophistication.

In addition to handling the day-to-day business transactions, M&A and other liquidity event transactions for our clients, we pay particular attention to our client’s ownership structure, as well as their respective personal, estate and tax mitigation planning and strategies while considering wealth preservation. These needs are often multifaceted requiring a dedicated effort that not only supports their business interests, but transcends their underlying personal welfare goals and objectives. We consider each client’s specific family dynamics and partner with other professionals such as accountants, wealth management professionals, insurance brokers, investment bankers, among others, to address these related issues.

In areas that are outside of our core practice areas, we utilize our strategic relationships with other lawyers at law firms of all sizes and subcontract certain projects to them, as they serve as co-counsel for these engagements. This approach enables us to provide a full-service law firm solution to our clients while ensuring maximum value by continuing to serve as the relationship manager and “quarterback,” even if it means not billing our clients every minute of time spent doing so.
